Classes

Aug08 004.jpg (58791 bytes) Autumn Breeze

Saturday, September 27th or Monday, September 29th 10:00-5:00

We are tricking you a bit with this one because we called it Summer Heat in August. The class filled and lots of vacationers would have missed this so we would like you to have the opportunity to make this tremendous quilt.

Instructor: Melanie Magdzik

Instruction fee: $100 includes book and fabric roll of your choice

October 2008

Our Weekend Block Party 2008 is rapidly approaching. Pam’s landscape class is full but we still have room in Shelley’s class. It promises to be another fabulous time. We’re offering lots of fun and easy classes in October. I’m planning some new things for the shop; I’m still mulling it over in my head but once I start thinking it can be dangerous. Mrs. Landry (Kathy Too) will be back in October and we’re all looking forward to that.

Classes

Bernina Day

Sept08 001.jpg (25177 bytes) Saturday, October 4th 10:00-12:30

This is a quick project using your favorite feet. You’ll be making a cute little Origami bag. We were shown this by a lady from Montreal that taught Bernina projects at her local quilt shop.

Instructor: Melanie Magdzik

Instruction fee: $20 includes fabric for project

Sept08 009.jpg (19536 bytes) Keyhole Runner

Saturday, October 4th 1:00-5:00

Using a set of our unique and beautiful strips, you’ll be able to complete this project in no time. This pattern also lends itself nicely to placemats. You’ll need the book "On a Roll Again".

Instructor: Kathy

Instruction fee: $60 (this includes your jelly roll of choice)

Getting Started with EQ

Monday, October 6th 10:30-4:30

If you have the program EQ 5 or EQ 6 and you’re not sure how to use it, this may be the push to get you started. You’ll need your laptop for this class. And your program loaded on it.

Instructor: Melanie Magdzik

Instruction fee: $30

begginersample.jpg (54293 bytes) Beginners Quilting

Saturday, October 11th or 10:00-5:00

If you’ve always wanted to learn to quilt but have not wanted to dedicate weeks to learn you may want to check out this class. You’ll learn everything you need to get started and even finish a small project designed by us. You will learn how to use the tools properly, which brands do the best job, how to strip piece, how to press, apply borders, quilt and bind a simple placemat. All fabric is supplied to complete two placemats. One you’ll do in class and one you’ll complete at home. This will be a very productive and rewarding day.

Instructor: Melanie Magdzik

Instruction fee: $85.00 plus gst (includes fabric to complete project)

Sept08 016.jpg (52882 bytes) Melanie’s Block

Wednesday, October 8th 10:30-4:00 or

Saturday October 18th 10:30-4:00

We’ve added the block of the month on a Saturday now by request. This month will start the Christmas series again but a different block. Once again the option is to make it into a quilt with all your other blocks or a beautiful thing yet to be determined at this precise moment.

Instructor: Melanie Magdzik

Instruction fee: $20.00 (includes pattern)

Sept08 008.jpg (61711 bytes) Toothbrush Placemat

Monday, October 13th 10:00-4:00

Alecia from Ontario (formerly P.G.) came in this summer and was so excited about this technique that’s all the rage in Ontario. She showed us how to do it and so I had to order the supplies. I got the handy dandy instructional DVD and Kim and I watched it in Rupert and I started making a sample. It’s addicting and it uses up fabric big time. So if you’re at a loose end on Thanksgiving Monday then come and try this out with us. You don’t need a sewing machine.

Instructor: Kathy

Instruction fee: $40 includes Fabric, pattern & shiv (that’s what they call a pointed toothbrush in the "joint")

Sept08 007.jpg (28189 bytes) Mrs. Landry’s Potluck Tote

Thursday, October 16th 10:00-5:00

I know some of you have seen this kind of tote but Mrs. Landry has taken it a step further and made it much better. If you’ve ever gone to a pot luck affair and had to bring your own plates etc. you know how inconvenient it can be. With this handy dandy tote you’ll have no problem at all. They make a great gift. If fact, I would like one.

Instructor: Kathy Too

Instruction fee: $60.00 includes your fabric and batting

Weekend Block Party 2008

Saturday and Sunday 10:00-5:00, October 25th & 26th; held upstairs at the Civic Centre

Weekend fee is $200 (This includes a buffet dinner Saturday evening). You’ll have a choice of two classes:

Beads & Bags 002.jpg (106162 bytes) fabrics, bag, quilting 012.jpg (74213 bytes) Basics in the Art of Fabric Embellishment

Shelley Tobisch: Shelley will be showing you how to construct a designer bag while using cords, decorative thread, beads, yarns etc. You’ll get the most out of your specialty and regular machine feet. Shelley is a master of embellishment and her knowledge is without end. (well, I haven’t seen the end yet anyway).

pam1.jpg (103989 bytes) pam2.jpg (148932 bytes) Surface Embellishment (This class is full)

Pam Mahoney: Piecing a simple background, and using a variety of techniques such as thread painting, free motion, embroidery and burning, adding yarns, threads, wire, fabric and organza to create texture, dimension and making trees and flowers. This is fabric art at is best. Pam is a fantastic fabric artist with many years experience.

Just a little reminder, classes must be paid at the time of registration. There are no refunds, rain checks, credits etc.

We continue to appreciate your support by purchasing your class supplies from us to ensure the quality of your product and to keep class fees at our current cost, and let’s face it, it just keeps our business in business. If a class uses a particular book or pattern, each participant must purchase or be in possession of that book or pattern; photocopies are forbidden and illegal.

As always, please refrain from wearing perfume however light and fresh. Some people are so sensitive that they may have their throat close and thrash about. I find this very disruptive to the other students.
